The SIAD Group chooses Porto Marghera, Venice, as the location for its new plant for the construction of large ASUs (Air Separation Units)

The SIAD Group is investing 50 million euros in a new plant in Porto Marghera (Venice) for SIAD Macchine Impianti (SIAD MI), the company that leads the Group’s Engineering division. The new site, which will be completed in 2026, is intended for the production of large Air Separation Units (ASUs) for international markets.

In a major step towards achieving net-zero emissions, the PSA Venice -Vecon container terminal has announced the implementation of a cutting-edge sustainability strategy with the adoption of HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and the use of 100% renewable energy: this change not only reduces environmental impact but also sets a new standard for the port industry.

Growth recorded in veneto ports in 2024: +3.5% tonnes in Venice, +8.8% in Chioggia

Venice-Chioggia, 21 February 2025 – A particularly lively last quarter enabled the port of Venice to end the year with a 3.5% increase in the number of tonnes handled, compared to the previous year (from 23,271,129 to 24,104,354). The port of Chioggia also did well, with 813,415 tonnes, namely an 8.8% increase in the volume of goods handled, mainly driven by general cargo (+42.7%) and in particular by the steel industry.

Cybersecurity and Digital Twin Technology: Two Days of Training for the Venetian Port Community

180 technicians, operators, and entrepreneurs from the Venetian port community participated in a two-day training on cybersecurity and digital twin technology, organized by the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority, with the support of the Association of Engineers of Venice. The event took place at the Venezia Heritage Tower in Porto Marghera.

Port of Chioggia: the port authority releases a permit to the Cimolai shipyard to construct and embark two 100-metre-high cranes. Go-ahead provided also for the new breakwater at Le Saline dock.

Up until May 2026, the port of Chioggia will host a construction site exceeding 45,000 sq. m. operated by the company Cimolai Technology for the set up two over 100-metre-tall harbour gantry cranes (800 tonne GOLIATH class crane). Once completed, the cranes will be shipped from Chioggia using SPMTs (self-propelled modular transporters) and sent to Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard.

More than 13,000 people brought their enthusiasm to the Venetian waterfront during the first weekend of April!

With 5,000 runners present at the Venice Night Trail and over 8,000 participants in the Su e Zo per i Ponti (“Up and Down the Bridges”), the waterfront of Santa Marta and San Basilio was lively throughout the weekend.

The 9th CMP VENICE NIGHT TRAIL starts from the port areas of Marittima and lights up the Venetian waterfront… with a new feature!

On Saturday, April 5, Venice will host the ninth edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail, the now well-known 16-kilometer night urban trail that crosses 51 bridges, starting at 9 PM from Terminal 123, in the Marittima port area, which will be transformed for the occasion into the CMP Village, the nerve center of the entire event.
