The study, carried out by the Centro Studi Sintesi of CGIA Mestre, highlights the presence of 1,442 active companies and a value of production generated by the port system of approximately €15 billion. When accounting for direct, indirect and induced effects, this figure rises to €44.2 billion, contributing 6.5% to the regional GDP. Furthermore, the port system directly employs 26,898 people, while total employment — including the wider supply chain — involves 218,853 individuals, distributed across the metropolitan area (58%), the rest of Italy (28.2%) and the Veneto Region (13.8%).
The Pact for ecological restoration actions in the Venice Lagoon was signed today at Palazzo X Savi, headquarters of the Lagoon Authority. The document represents a shared commitment aimed at strengthening cooperation among institutions, the scientific community, civil society organisations and citizens in order to enhance the resilience of lagoon ecosystems.

Venice–Chioggia, 10 February 2026 – Upon proposal by the President of the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority, Matteo Gasparato, the Management Board today appointed Roberto Mantovanelli as Secretary General of the Authority. Born in Verona in 1980, with a degree in Management Engineering, Mantovanelli currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sogesid S.p.A., the Italian State’s in-house public engineering company.
A new, tangible step towards environmental sustainability and the energy transition of the Port of Venice. The North Adriatic Sea Port Authority has launched an energy efficiency project involving Buildings 12 and 13, which host the Authority’s headquarters, and Building 15, home to the Harbour Master’s Office, in the area between Santa Marta and San Basilio.
The new pipeline eliminates road transport between the Group’s two facilities, reducing CO₂ emissions by 28,000 kg per year, improving logistics efficiency and enhancing service for agri-food supply chains.
Located at the top of the Adriatic Sea, the Veneto Port System – which includes the ports of Venice and Chioggia – is the closest access to Europe’s main manufacturing centres for goods coming from the south and a key resource for the area: on a total surface of 2,500 hectares, over 1,200 companies operate to serve supply and export chains of industries based in Northern Italy and Central Europe.
