Chioggia, 13 December 2025 — The lifting and erection of the main girder of the first 800-ton rail-mounted Goliath crane under construction at the Port of Chioggia will be completed today.

With the decree signed on 12 November by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, Matteo Gasparato, former Special Commissioner, has been appointed President of the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority – Ports of Venice and Chioggia.

The Port of Venice continues to confirm its role as a key logistics hub, connecting Central and Eastern Europe with Far East markets.

The SIAD Group is investing 50 million euros in a new plant in Porto Marghera (Venice) for SIAD Macchine Impianti (SIAD MI), the company that leads the Group’s Engineering division. The new site, which will be completed in 2026, is intended for the production of large Air Separation Units (ASUs) for international markets.
Located at the top of the Adriatic Sea, the Veneto Port System – which includes the ports of Venice and Chioggia – is the closest access to Europe’s main manufacturing centres for goods coming from the south and a key resource for the area: on a total surface of 2,500 hectares, over 1,200 companies operate to serve supply and export chains of industries based in Northern Italy and Central Europe.
