BreakBulk Europe 2024

Fourteen port businesses to be awarded by the Veneto Region and AdSPMAS to celebrate the Veneto port system’s 10th participation in the international fair.

For the tenth consecutive year, the Veneto Region’s port system will attend Break Bulk Europe, Europe’s prime international trade fair for general cargo and special projects, which opened yesterday in Rotterdam. To celebrate the event, the Veneto Region’s Deputy President and Regional Minister for Infrastructure and Transport will join the President of AdSPMAS, Fulvio Lino Di Blasio, in presenting a special award to representatives of 14 businesses operating in the port segment for the contribution provided to enhancing the Veneto Region’s excellence in the break bulk sector.

The Veneto Region is one of Italy’s leaders in this high-added-value segment in terms of both manufacturing and transport. This year it is represented by a large delegation of more than 30 attendees, including terminal operators, agents, forwarding agents and logistics operators, coordinated by the Port System Authority.

‘At a time when working as a team is essential to relaunch the port’s throughput, we are back in Rotterdam to prove once again that we are and operate as a system,’ declared President Di Blasio. ‘A lot of the highly innovative infrastructure and the facilities implemented worldwide was designed and built in the Veneto: their components were delivered to the Veneto’s ports to be assembled and loaded on board, and to be transported safely to their destinations. There are also examples of teams of experts from our port system being involved in unloading and handling operations in the countries of destination. The hyper-specialised know-how required for this purpose deserves to be recognised. While we consider the handling of special projects as business as usual, it is important to acknowledge our operators’ talent, as it is they who sustain our ports’ high levels of competitiveness in this niche market that is so important for our territory. We are committed to ensuring that they are continuously supported’.

“Rotterdam is one of the most important international trade fairs for break bulk, an extremely specialised segment where the companies of the Veneto port system have proved their entrepreneurial skills, to the extent that our Region has become a European leader in the production and transport of breakbulk cargo,” commented the Veneto Region’s Deputy President and Regional Minister for Infrastructure and Transport. “This niche market requires highly specialised and multi-disciplinary transport and logistics skills: in this environment, investments in infrastructure and technologies combined with synergic action between the Port System Authority and operators can further boost our territory’s economic development.”.
