AdSPMAS at the second edition of the Venice Boat Show

AdSPMAS could not miss the Venice Boat Show at Piazzale Campanella, Arsenale, where it added a truly innovative stand to those of the city’s institutions.

As the 2021 edition of the Show took place at a time when pandemic-related restrictions were still in force, AdSPMAS created an entirely innovative stand that used new communications techniques and technologies to let visitors enjoy the contents without coming into physical contact with materials, thus complying with  social distancing rules.
Visitors had the opportunity to ‘Navigate in the past and present of Veneto’s port facilities’, in keeping with the event’s distinctive claim ‘the art of shipbuilding is back home’. Three different virtual itineraries were proposed.

The first was an immersive navigation route into the past, with three VIRTUAL VISITS, implemented within the European Remember Project ‘REstoring the MEmory of Adriatic port sites. Maritime culture to foster Balanced tERritorial growth’ financed by the Italy-Croatia European Cooperation Programme, which led visitors to discover the history of shipbuilding and traditional Lagoon fishing by visiting three locations that are fundamental to Veneto’s maritime-port culture:

  • The Ships Pavilion of the Naval History Museum, Venice.
  • The Civic Museum of the South Lagoon, Chioggia.
  • The exhibition «Fishing in the Lagoon» by the Venice Civic Museums Foundation – Giancarlo Ligabue Natural History Museum.

These itineraries were created through an inter-institutional partnership in close synergic cooperation with the Italian Navy, the Venice Civic Museums Foundation and the Civic Museum of the South Lagoon, Chioggia.

The second itinerary took visitors to visually navigate the Venice and Chioggia marinas (the two InNave  marinas at Marghera and Malcontenta, Marina Le Saline at Chioggia and Marina di Lio Grando) and learn about all the services provided for pleasure boaters and professional sailors.
It was also an opportunity to launch the new free web app intended for port users and pleasure boaters, which collects data from all the public authorities with jurisdiction over the Lagoon.  This tool, financed by the CEF – Green C Port and Interreg Italy Croatia CHARGE projects, was created in collaboration with several institutions, including: the General Command of the Corps of Harbour Masters, Venice Harbour Master’s Office, Chioggia Harbour Master’s Office, the Interregional Superintendency for Public Works in Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Venice’s municipal Tide monitoring and forecast centre, Veneto’s regional Agency for Environmental Prevention and Protection, Consorzio Venezia Nuova, CNR’s Institute of Marine Science, and CORILA – the Consortium for the Coordination of Research concerning the Venice Lagoon System.
