  5. Venice Marathon: the port...

Venice Marathon: the port puts 50 runners on the track on the occasion of 25 years of supporting the running race.

The Port Authority will be the institutional and technical partner of the marathon and will ensure a safe and accessible passage to the Santa Marta and San Basilio port waterfront, which will be crossed by the athletes in the final part of their route, in coordination with other entities and institutions. The organization is also hosting the third edition of the “Veneto Ports Trophy” within the 10 km competition, combining sports with a charitable project. The winners will be able to choose a social association in the local area to which the Authority will donate a contribution.   Fulvio Lino Di Blasio, President of the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority, declares: “The Port Authority has been supporting the Venice Marathon for a quarter of a century because it fully shares the values of solidarity and commitment expressed by this sporting event, which encourages the pursuit of excellence without forgetting fair play. The race route, which passes through the port areas of Scomenzera, Santa Marta, and San Basilio, also gives us the opportunity to reach a wide audience and showcase the waterfront, which is the subject of a major redevelopment project that will further strengthen the strong bond between the city and its port. This year, the port community is putting together a team of 50 athletes who will also compete in the Veneto Ports Trophy, a charity initiative that allows us to support a charitable project in our region. Many thanks go to the Harbour Master’s  Office, Vecon, TRV Euroports, VTP, Mooring Operators, Pilots, and the entire port community for the enthusiastic participation.”
