Venezia 50. Marghera 100. The future of the Port System of the Northern Adriatic sea. The Port of Venice. The Port in Venice
This year the event takes place during a crucial and pivotal moment because 2016 will see the definition of the new Port Development Plan, the creation of a new port structure based on the application of the industry Reform which will provide for the establishment of the System Port Authority of the Northern Adriatic sea (APDS AS), as well as the conclusion of a strategic historical phase: on one hand, 100 years ago Porto Marghera, the industrial hub of Venice, was born, and on the other hand, after the effects of the storm surge of 1966, special attention was paid to the protection of Venice.
The institutions that every day work for the development of the port will be present, including the Harbour Master, the Municipality and the Region of Veneto – respectively represented by the Second in Command, Stefano Meconi, the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro and the Councillor for public work, infrastructures and transports, Elisa De Berti – and two experts of “Venezia 50” like Andrea Rinaldo (Full Professor of Hydraulic Construction, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and University of Padua), and of “Marghera 100” like Stefano Micelli (Scientific Director of Fondazione Nord Est).
At the end of the session, the President of the Port Authority, Paolo Costa, will deliver his report - in addition to an outline of his second term of office, he will report on the future of the new APDS AS, with a look at the glocal dimension (of Venice and in Venice) of the port.
The conclusions of the session will be made by Simona Vicari, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports.
