Ursa Major Neo
URSA MAJOR NEO is a European project that aims at developing an ITS platform (Intelligent Transport Services) to improve road traffic management along the core European multi-modal corridors, namely the set of major freight routes crossing European countries.
The main objective to be reached with pilot actions and investments - both on the network and on the management (soft measures) - is the integration between the motorways’ information systems and the ports, for better planning and smooth management of those routes between motorways, ordinary roads and port accesses, expecially for heavy vehicles, with consequent positive effect also on lowering Co2 emissions.
The North Adriatic Sea port Authority (ports of Venice and Chioggia) will develop a monitoring and information system for logistic operators, aimed at reducing waiting times for access to port terminals and, in general, optimizing gate in and gate out processes to the port (AGS - Automated Gate System).
