The Shimanami Queen docks with a load of 50 thousand tonnes
New record broken by for the Domestic Bulk Goods Terminal (Euroports Group). On 9th December the ship Shimanami Queen docked in Porto Marghera with over 50 thousand tonnes of high-protein flour from Louisiana (USA) destined to the agrifood market of Northern Italy.
A new record was broken in the agro-food bulk sector thanks to the Venice Port Authority’s efforts to deepen drafts, in synergy with the Veneto hinterland and the commercial boost of operators.
The Port of Venice thus consolidates and strengthens its position of strategic layover for agrifood products of the Northern Adriatic Sea.
In the first eleven months of 2014 the port of Venice and its operators have posted, vs the same period in 2013, a 3.8% increase in the agribulk sector and a 50.8% increase in the grains sector; this trend derives from the growing demand from the Veneto hinterland, served by specialized operators and also supported by alternatives for the shipping of goods by either railway or river transport.
