The Port of Venice at the International Meeting of Euro-Asian Transport Ministers
Indonesia, 26th-28th of September 2017 - The International Meeting of Euro-Asian Transport Ministers (ASEM TMM4) took place today in Bali from 26 to 28 September. The Forum, at its fourth edition, was focused on maritime connectivity, bringing together institutional representatives from all Asia-Europe Meeting member countries (ASEM), as well as many industry operators.
Among them, there were the European Transport Commissioner Mrs. Violeta Bulc and the President of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo. In this occasion, the Italian Embassy in Jakarta has set up a corner to highlight Italy's role in the relations with Eastern countries.
In this context, the Port of Venice has been able to promote its activities with Asian markets by recalling its millennial capacity to connect Europe and Asia through the “Port of Venice - Bridging the World. Since forever", but also disclosing information about the import of fruits from Indonesia, thanks to the direct service passing through the XXI century Maritime SIlk Road.
The Indonesian Transport Minister Budy Karya Sumadi visited the Italian stand demonstrating interest about Venice as a strategic gateway to European markets and about the case study on the transport of fresh fruit from Indonesia to Italy.
Umiyatun Hayati Triastuti, the Director General for Research and Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Transport, and Pelindo, the Indonesian state company that manages ports, visited the italian stand too and are interested to cooperate with Italy.
