The project aimed to restructure and strengthen the Port's railway facilities. S
even additional parallel railway tracks, totaling 4 km, were constructed – including three fully electrified tracks (±1,500 m) used to load and unload rolling stock onto vessels. The commercial shunting yard is now capable of handling up to 50 trains per day, each up to 700 meters in length - a key factor which allows rail freight operators to establish new links in the region. Additional works were also carried out to benefit the Port’s overall infrastructure included extending the anti-fire systems in place and the rainwater collection and drainage system, as well as constructing a local road to facilitate access for Port staff.
