The next 5th and 6th October 2017, the fourth edition of the international conference “Our Ocean”, sponsored by the European Union, will be held in Malta.
The initiative intends to support the commitment to safeguard oceans, threatened by the intensive exploitation of fish resources, the effects of climate change and pollution.
During the sessions four main themes will be addressed: the reduction of marine pollution, the promotion of eco-compatible fishing, the mitigation of the negative effects of climate change and the creation of marine reserves.
The North Adriatic Sea Port Authority will also join the conference sessions, presenting to the international community the engagement and the air quality improvement results achieved by the Port of Venice.
In particular, the “voluntary” agreements signed with ship owners for the use of ecological fuels while sailing within the Venice lagoon, the so-called “Venice Blue Flag”, will also be detailed.
During the event, the Port Authority will announce its commitment to renew the “Venice Blue Flag” agreement for the 2018-2019 period, as well as to promote this best practice at both national and European level so that other ports can follow this GREEN route and help in safeguarding our Oceans.
