Opening of a new Health Inspection Centre

At the commercial port of Marghera the Venice Port Authority has built a health inspection centre which places the competent institutions performing goods health inspections in one single building.

The new centre houses the Frontier Inspection Centre - which performs veterinary inspections on animal products and non-animal feeds - Maritime Healthcare - which inspects non-animal food and third-country food contact material - and the Plant-health Inspection Office - which performs inspections on vegetables and vegetable products to exclude the presence of hazardous parasites.

On Thursday 28th March the new centre was opened in the presence of the authorities including Paolo Costa, President of the Venice Port Authority,  Giampiero Attili, Director of the Veterinary Office of the Port of Venice, Giacomo Marchese, Director of the Maritime Health Office of Venice and Marco Vettorazzo, manager of the Plant-health Inspection and Control Office of Venice.
