New electrical substation no. 18 in Porto Marghera
Committed to the continuous upgrading of port infrastructures, the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority is carrying out an important intervention on the power grid of the Marghera freight port that involves the demolition of the now obsolete electrical substation no. 18 used by TRV and VECON and the construction of a new substation in its place.

The operation was necessary to secure adequate power supply to terminal operators. Low-maintenance and easier to operate, the new substation will allow to cut service downtime significantly.
The new substation no.18 has a power rating of 7.5 MW and will be connected to the port's 10.5 kV network. It will be equipped with five 1250 kVA 20-10.5/3 kV transformers to power the cranes and two 630 kVA 20-10.5/0.4 kV transformers operated in parallel to power low voltage users.

Since the area is used for storing bulk goods, dust can become an issue as it can quickly build up and clog filters and machinery. To avoid any problems, a heat pump system will be used for the ventilation of the substation instead of grilles.
The total cost of the project will be € 2.100.000,00, entirely financed by AdSPMAS.
