E-Navigation: works in progress
Venice, Spazioporto, 16-17 December 2010
The Port of Venice hosts and supports the workshop “E-navigation: works in progress”, organized by the Consortium of Venice Maritime School (Vemars) at Spazioporto (former Santa Marta Church).
The proceedings, opened by The President of Venice Port Authority, Prof. Paolo Costa, include the participation of European specialists on navigation and Information & Communication Technology in the logistics and transportation field.
The aim is to introduce the e-navigation project, currently being developed by I.M.O. (International Maritime Organization), which is geared to improve communications from ship to land, replacing the present “vocal” mode with the more reliable data transfer system.
During the workshop, I.M.O. regulations on the subject will be outlined, giving the future users the opportunity to learn and know more about procedures, means, functions and everything possibly relevant when the service will be operating.
