Maritime Day Conference in Gdansk
Venice Port Authority's President participates in 2011 "European Maritime Day" in Gdansk.
The "European Maritime Day" was established by the European Commission and is celebrated across Europe on 20 May.
The theme of this year is "Maritime Policy: Putting People First". Its aim is to show the importance of the sea and oceans in everyday life, both for coastal communities and across Europe as a whole, and to highlight the opportunities and the challenges currently facing maritime regions and sectors from tourism and fisheries to maritime transport and climate change.
Venice Port Authority's President spoke at the conference's session "How to promote sustainable maritime transport in the context of climate change", explaining the Port of Venice's strategy in reducing greenhouse gas and presenting the case of the Adriatic-Baltic Corridor as a green logistics initiative.
