Milan 30th April 2010 – The Port of Venice and Promos (the internationalisation agency of the Milan Chamber of Commerce) have worked together to organise the last leg of the Roadshow, “Venice: Europe's gateway to the Near East”. During the event the Port presented its achievements, its plans to enhance its infrastructure and the new logistics services available.

The north Italian market can now rely on the new regular weekly Ro-Pax (cargo and passengers) line between the ports of Venice, Tartous and Alexandria that was launched on 20th May 2010, with transit times of just 68 hours to Syria and 60 hours to Egypt.

The line is operated by Visemar Line and its newly built ship can transport up to 2,860 metres of rolling stock, 70 vehicles, 360 passengers and is equipped with 100 reefer plugs.

The services offered by the Port of Venice are completed by the 5 sea/inland waterway container barges for navigation along the Po river and a weekly block train service.
