GAINN_IT Initiative - Gas Innovation Network
The activities co-funded within the project GAINN4CORE promote the use of alternative fuels in view of the restrictions on sulfur emissions for maritime transport and contribute to the definition of the national regulatory framework that includes laws and regulations for the supply of fuel to ships and the types of facilities that will be developed also by identifying the ports and the localization of these areas, in compliance with the Directive 2014/94/EU on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure.
In the port of Venice it is foreseen the design and implementation of a pilot LNG refueling station by ENI, with a capacity of about 150 [m3] able to supply an annual LNG demand of about 3.000 [ton/y].
Moreover, Venice Port Authority will conduct studies on accessibility and safety aspects related to LNG storage and distribution with respect to the above mentioned pilot initiative.
Other ports participate in the project: Genoa, La Spezia, Livorno, Augusta, Ancona and Ravenna, for a total value of over 13 million euro coordinated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
Member States involved: Italy
Project duration: 1/06/2015 – 30/09/2019
The project GAINN4MOS promotes sustainable LNG operations for ports and shipping as innovative pilot actions and is coordinated by Valencia port.
In particular, the following actions will be carried out:
- Engineering study of LNG infrastructure at Port;
- LNG pilot bunkering stations at Core Ports;
- Constructions of LNG Break-bulking stations.
Within GAINN4MOS the port of Venice will implement the design of motor drive system dual-fuel ( LNG + diesel ) for ferry boat (ACTV).
Member States involved: Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Slovenia, Croatia
Project duration: 1/01/2015 – 30/09/2019
