GAINN_IT Initiative - Gas Innovation Network

The GAINN initiative is promoted and coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, in order to create the Italian alternative fuels network. Also within these initiatives, the port of Venice develops pilot actions to become a maritime and road logistics hub for liquefied natural gas in the North Adriatic.

GAINN4CORE

The activities co-funded within the project GAINN4CORE promote the use of alternative fuels in view of the restrictions on sulfur emissions for maritime transport and contribute to the definition of the national regulatory framework that includes laws and regulations for the supply of fuel to ships and the types of facilities that will be developed also by identifying the ports and the localization of these areas, in compliance with the Directive 2014/94/EU on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure.

Other ports participate in the project: Genoa, La Spezia, Livorno, Augusta, Ancona and Ravenna, for a total value of over 13 million euro coordinated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

Member States involved: Italy
Project duration: 1/06/2015 – 30/09/2019
