The Port of Venice is in a position to act as the European gateway for trade flows to and from Asia.

Functional and safety upgrading of the road and rail connections in via dell'Elettricità – from via Ghega to the junction with the A57 motorway

 

This project stems from the need to improve the road and rail connections between the Venice Mestre station and terminals in Venice Marghera and Fusina with the twofold aim of upgrading the area and increasing freight interchange to and from Porto Marghera.

In particular, the project includes:

  • road works: the existing road system in Via dell'Elettricità and adjacent areas will be reorganised and improved following the upgrading of the railway lines;
  • railway works: the existing network will be upgraded and a new section will be built to double the existing line, thus adding flexibility to the line with a reduction in service times;
  • installation of new underground utilities and relocation of those currently present along Via dell'Elettricità.

The completion of the road and railway network aims at relieving traffic congestion while reducing interference between the different flows of urban, port, industrial and railway traffic in the area, so as to achieve a more organized expansion.

This intervention is accompanied by two other projects: one concerns the construction of a wastewater treatment system to handle the runoff from the above mentioned roads; the other is about the installation of a new LED street lights in Via dell'Elettricità, Via delle Macchine and Via Banchina dell'Azoto.

The total cost of the intervention amounts to € 12,000,000.00.

Infine il completamento della viabilità stradale e ferroviaria si propone di risolvere i problemi di congestione ed interferenze tra i differenti traffici che interessano l’area (urbani, portuali, industriali e ferroviari) e di supportare il loro sviluppo.

A tale intervento si affiancano altri due progetti. Il primo relativo alla realizzazione di un sistema di trattamento delle acque reflue derivanti dal dilavamento delle strade di cui all’intervento descritto.
Il secondo intervento riguarda invece la realizzazione di un nuovo impianto di illuminazione con sistema a led, sia lungo la via dell’Elettricità che lungo via delle macchine e via Banchina dell’Azoto.

Il costo dell’intervento ammonta complessivamente a € 12.000.000,00.
