Fresh Food Corridors at Fruit Logistica in Berlin
From 3 th to 5 th of February the Port of Venice participates in Berlin “Fruit Logistica”, the main European exhibition for “fresh fruit and vegetable” industry which brings together every year about 3.000 exhibitors and 65.000 visitors.
During the exhibitions was presented the “Fresh Food Corridors” project, which is financed within the “Connecting Europe Facility - Transport 2014” Programme.
The project aims to promote the development of an integrated and innovative logistic corridor for the distribution of agri-food products from Middle-East Mediterranean basin. Fresh and refrigerated goods will be transported by Motorways of the Sea to the European ports of Koper, Venice and Marseille and then by rail to the Central and North EU markets.
The project entails several innovative elements for the improvement of goods traffic flows in the agri-food sector, such as the full involvement of the logistic operators from third countries in the Mediterranean region and the testing of a new technology based on an innovative system for power supply for reefer containers.
