ESPO Award

 

The European Sea Ports Organisation is an international association represented by port authorities, port associations and port administrations of the seaports of European Union Member States, and Norway.

ESPO ensures that seaports are represented in the European Union. The organisation promotes the common interests of its members throughout Europe and is also engaged in relating with European stakeholders in port and maritime sector.

The ESPO Award was established in 2009 and aims to promote innovative projects of European port authorities improving societal integration of ports and thier close connections with cities and the wider community they are located in.

In this way, the Award means to stimulate the sustainable development of European ports and their cities.

The ESPO Award choses a different theme every year. The 2015 edition is dedicated to the engagement with local schools and universities.

The Port of Venice has been participating in ESPO Award since 2010, promoting initiatives for the integration of the Port and the City.
