The Port of Venice invests on sustainable development

Environmental integrated Policy, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and Certification

Since 2011  NASPA set its own Environmental Policy and started developing its own ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS), which represents a practical tool able to monitor the environmental aspects related to port activities, their impacts and the positive effects of the green initiatives, and which has been certified in 2012 by RINA certification company.

According to its Environmental Policy, Port Authority is committed to continuously improve the management of its environmental aspects developing a sustainable supply chain, investing in new technologies and enhancing international and national cooperation.
Moreover, NASPA aims, on one hand, at preventing and reducing energy and materials consumption, waste production and pollution, on the other hand, at promoting the value of environmental safeguarding among its employees and among companies working in the Port of Venice.

In 2018, NASPA EMS has been improved with updates according to the most recent ISO 14001. Also it has been integrated with NASPA quality management system (QMS), and the certification, always renewed since 2012, has been confirmed also for 2019/2020.
The field of activities of NASPA EMS, in line with the instituting Law 84/1994 (and subsequent changes and additions), comprehends “planning and development of port activities. Definition of port master plans. Design, management and technical control of the construction of port works. Issue, renewal and management of licenses, authorizations and procedures related to port activities and state property. Maintenance of common areas within the port. Contracting out and control of general services to port users. Surveillance and control activities with regard to the observance of work safety and health regulations by port companies and workers.”
