On 9th and 10th June at Spazio Porto - Conference Centre of the Venice Port Authority, a workshop was held on "Intermodal Solutions" as part of the initiative of Advanced vocational training sponsored by ELIS Corporate School "Executive Program Mobility to People".
The goal of the workshop was to examine examples of active partnerships between multiple transport operators, with a specific focus on the flows and transfers of goods and products. Intermodality as a critical success factor for the Country, at an infrastructural, logistic and fee level was analysed: the strategic importance of building effective infrastructures and connections, the possible sources of financing, and the predictable ROI on the territory and local economies were discussed.
The speakers mentioned real cases of high-speed rail hubs, ports and airports, taking as a benchmark the international experiences in Europe and the United States. Joint collaborations of mobility services as well as different formats of collaboration were also analysed, ranging from vertical collaboration within the same company or among a group of companies to horizontal collaboration between the public and the private sector.
The sessions of the seminars will be made available by publishing the “White Paper” of Mobility To People, edited by Prof. Lanfranco Senn of the Bocconi University of Milan, which will be published in 2015.
