Eco-Drive Project
The CFLI (Consorzio Formazione Logistica Intermodale), Venice Port Authority's training arm, developed the "ECO-DRIVE" project. It is a training programme that, modifying lorry drivers' driving style, helps reducing road haulage's impact on the environment, abating fuel cost as well.

The classes are held with the help of an advanced simulator. Students learn how to improve their driving skills, and to reduce pollutants, thanks to a driving style leads to a 5%-10% reduction in fuel consumption.
Training passes through three phases:
- pre-recording of the driver's driving style, with a computation of fuel consumption (with the aid of a special apparatus, installed on the lorry);
- 16 hours of theory and practice of a correct driving style (with the aid of the driving simulator);
- improved performances' check (again with the aid of the installed apparatus).
The project is fully financed by the Venetia Region, together with the European Social Fund, and the CFLI takes care of every aspect.
In August 2023 the first part of the project took place, attended by 100 drivers of De Girolami, a transport company located in Motta di Livenza (near Treviso).
Further courses will be activated, with reservations open until October 2012.
