Safeguard of the air
The Port Authority has studies the extent to which transiting cruise ships impact the air quality in the city of Venice.
State of the art methods and real-time measurements have provided broad understanding of the impact of ships on the air quality in the Port of Venice and have also enabled an assessment of impact reduction activities.
The results show that the direct contribution of ships to the amount of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2,5) ranges between 14% and 15% when docked.
